In cooperation with The City of Elgin and First United Methodist Church , the emergency warming center will be open for the 2016-17 season under the management of The Matthew 25:40 Ministry. The City of Elgin allows the opening of the warming center from the hours of 7pm-7am when the overnight temperature is expected to be 10 degrees or lower. We will make the decision to open by 4pm each day.

We will have soups, stews or chilli available each night we are open. Anyone who would like to make a batch, we ask it to be put in gallon freezer bags and lay them flat to freeze. We would use 3-4 gallons a night. The ministry has a freezer. Please contact us for drop off information.

We are seeking adult volunteers to staff the warming center. Those interested in volunteering, a volunteer application will be available later this week.
